In May preliminary works already started for export cable lay operations between OWF Riffgat and the landfall point at Emden-Borsum.
Preparations for cable lay operations have been running at full throttle already since the beginning of 2011. Initially a suitable partner for cable lay operations in the wadden- and deep sea area had to be selected who was found last autumn when the decision was made to contract Messrs. Bohlen & Doyen. Following this decision the detail engineering could start. Embedded in the nkt cables project team, the DOC staff most notably advices on complex cable-lay issues, generates and prepares technical processes and manages interfaces with all parties involved. The extensive offshore experience of the involved DOC staff members and specialists for submarine power cables together with an efficient combination of expertise shall play a major role in the successful project implementation.
