On April 19th 2013 the advisory council meeting of the offshore wind study programme was held at t.i.m.e.Port II in Bremerhaven. On this occasion, Mr. Oliver Spalthoff, representing the DOC, was appointed to the council by ForWind and WAB.
DOC has already been actively involved in the offshore study programme for over a year, providing lecture notes and holding workshops in the field of cable technology and -laying as well as logistics. Furthermore, DOC has also organized a so-called “Kaminzimmerabend” – an evening at the fireplace lounge. Students and executives from the offshore industry were invited to the “Havanna Lounge” in Bremen for food and talks, providing a platform for a get-together in a relaxed atmosphere.
The council membership emphasizes DOC’s commitment to the offshore study programme and reflects the importance of the partnership. Following the council meeting, this year’s alumni meeting from the past six years (onshore) also took place. Mr. Norbert Giese, vice president offshore development at REpower Systems SE was recruited for the evening speech.
The “Continuing Studies Programme Offshore Wind Energy” is a work-accompanying distance study programme including classroom seminar phases. This programme is the first work-accompanying study course customized for the offshore wind sector addressing problems and challenges. Meanwhile, preparations for the second year have begun.
